About Us

Welcome, and thank you for visiting. I am a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant. I have been practicing and teaching yoga since 2003. I love to share the benefits of yoga with others and I hope you will join me on this path to create balance, wholeness and joy through the art and science of yoga. The word yoga, comes from a root Sanscrit word Yog, which means "to yoke" or "to join", and in this practice the body is used as a tool to align the mind and create space for the spirit to flow freely. My mission is to create a nurturing, safe space for others to experience all that yoga has to offer, close to home, in Ferndale, WA.Enrolling in and showing up consistently in class can be exactly what you need to begin the process of befriending your body and making space for self-care in your life. Private lessons, on the other hand, can be used a tool to deepen your commitment to the spiritual and physical discipline of yoga, AND to work on your specific challenges and growth needs. I am looking forward to supporting you on your journey, no matter where you are right now - we can always begin again!

“With Meg I feel 100% comfortable with my abilities and any sense of self-judgement disappears. Meg is an intuitive listener and her insights and direction are always in alignment with any physical or mental challenges I am facing that day. I appreciate how she weaves the yoga philosophy into our sessions, and her supportive, grounding presence allows me to relax and learn more effectively.”

“The ability to have poses observed and corrections made when necessary is very helpful.  The use of alternative ways of doing poses that best suits me is great. One-on-one lessons are much more effective in improving my yoga.  They have motivated me to do more at home practice between lessons.  Meg is a beautiful soul and doing yoga in her presence is enriching in the broader sense of yoga and this is what it is all about.  Give it a go.”

About Your Instructor

Meg Sutton is a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher and has been teaching yoga in the Bellingham community for over 15 years. In addition to her Ferndale classes, she teaches at Yoga Northwest, Bellingham's only Iyengar Yoga studio and The Bellingham Yoga Collective. She teaches a variety of classes including beginning and intermediate classes, Gentle Yoga, Restorative Yoga and children's classes.

Meg has always been passionate about the relationship between body, mind and spirit. She studied dance at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, where she was introduced to yoga in a class that included performing artists from all disciplines. From early on, she fell in love with the poetry of yoga - a quiet practice with ample room for physical and spiritual exploration, a practice which is both compassionate and challenging, ripe with of wisdom and heart. She finished her studies at Western Washington University's Fairhaven College, and then devoted herself to studying yoga in Iyengar Yoga method.

Meg is also a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA). She uses tools from her experiences as a PTA to further guide students with injuries, chronic pain and other illnesses. She enjoys working with different populations of students and helping each individual create the energetic and physical space required for health, healing and growth.
